The examples below include just some of the problems dealt with by the Human Performance Clinic in recent months. Minor details have been altered to avoid identification.

Many of the techniques used to solve these problems are taught on our Two-day Self Improvement by Self-Hypnosis Course.


Female, 48 years. Depression, split relationship, lack of confidence, no direction.

Taught self-hypnosis to reduce stress; changed perception of relationship split. Introduced goal-setting and planned positive future. Seven sessions.


Female, 18 years. Long-term nail biting.

Applied NLP 6-step-reframe treatment and follow up. No urge to bite after two sessions.


Female, 50 years. Housewife, unable to eat solid food, mouth would dry and could not swallow. De-trauma on choking experience with a butterscotch, age seven. Able to eat a rich tea biscuit later that session.


Male, 47 years. Marital problems, premature ejaculation, overweight, lack of confidence and stress.

After eight sessions lost about five stones, premature ejaculation solved (for the first time in his life) resulting in marriage improvement.


Female, 32 years. Terminal cancer, received several treatments for stress management and pain control.


Sports performance

Clay pigeon shooter, male, 35 years. Said that: ‘Something is missing’. It’s just not happening the way I want.’ Was trying ‘too hard’ and was actually seeing spots in front of his eyes as he tried to focus.

Was taught self-hypnosis for relaxation and integrated this, using the ‘inner game’ approachwhere the player finds his own focus of attention. Applied anchors, pre-programming techniques, goal setting. Six sessions.


Scottish Football Association. B-level Coaching Course Introduction to Sports Psychology. Taught basic mental skills training concepts, including desensitisation and competition training, physical relaxation techniques, and the ‘good better best’ mental rehearsal.

Constitutes official SFA training for future coaches and managers.


Scotland U16 and U21 Football Teams. Mental Training workshops to improve positivity, focus, ability to set goals and feel confident, mental rehearsal, relaxing before games. etc.

We worked with players before matches to psych-up.
