About HPC
Why call ourselves the Human Performance Clinic?
Because we believe NLP and hypnosis is definitely ‘not just for the nasty things in life’! Yes it’s great for curing phobias and dealing with bad habits and emotional problems, but also it is a fantastic set of tools to enhance your life, relationships, work, hobbies, sports, creativity, to take control of your future and to precision engineer your success.
It is just ‘raising the bar’. It’s like getting a software upgrade for your mind. You will be amazed how good you feel when you get rid of those little irritations, or change those unwanted beliefs. Most people would like to feel fitter, or more relaxed, perhaps better organised, or simply feel more alive or happier. When we first started in 1990, Hypnotherapy, NLP, Life coaching, and related areas were quite ‘leftfield’. There were only about 7 of us doing it in Glasgow. Now there are literally hundreds. NLP is commonly known and used in corporate circles, education, sport. It’s on the T.V., radio, online, in magazines. This stuff works. That’s why when people want to change it’s often not psychology or counselling that they look to, but the practical, positive and fast methods that we offer.
Iain Thomson developed his interest in NLP whilst doing post graduate research in Sports Psychology and performance enhancement. During this time he was mentored by several top sports psychologists including Olympic gold medalist David Hemery who developed Iain’s interest and skills in ‘inner game’ coaching.

Sports psychology deals with issues such as confidence training, teamwork, psyching up and down, and coping with stress – NLP and hypnosis provided a state of the art approach and a set of tools to complement his existing coaching skills.
His first NLP training was back in 1989 with British Hypnosis Research in London and he set up The Human Performance Clinic a year later. He has been in full-time private practice doing one to one therapy and life coaching with clients since 1990, working with thousand of clients on a very wide range of issues. He is an NLP master practitioner, A member of the British Institute of Hypnotherapy, The Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council, The First Institute of NLP, and the UKCHO.
Iain has worked with Fortune 500 companies and the public sector alike, training managers and groups in areas such as stress management, performance enhancement and team building.
He also specialises in sports psychology and has worked with a premier league football club, the Scottish Football Association, various National Squads, elite athletes, and is a tutor with the National Coaching Centre.

Lorna Henderson trained in NLP in New York and London. She spent seven years training in method acting and performing at the Lee Strasberg Institute in New York.
